JPJ Counter System Needs Upgrading - Minister Infuriated by Long Queue for License Renewal

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong was frustrated after paying a surprise visit to the Johor JPJ headquarters in Taman Daya, Johor Bahru, and witnessed the public had to put up with a long queue under the hot sun on a Sunday.

Following the long queue incident, some people could not renew their driving license at Urban Transformation Centres (UTC) and post offices.

Several also questioned JPJ’s MySikap system, which offers online transactions yet needs to go JPJ for printing.

Wee also said only two out of four driving license printers supplied by Percetakan Keselamatan Nasional (PKN) are functioning at the JPJ Johor office.

“This is very disappointing, and I immediately contacted PKN and instructed them to repair the printers immediately or send new ones,” Wee expressed.

Regarding the status of license and road tax printers by PKN, the minister ordered JPJ’s HQ to collect information from all JPJ branches, UTC, and post offices as posted on his Facebook page.

He also gave out his number to JPJ Johor if there are any problems occurred and advised JPJ to not allow the public to wait for hours to get a printed license.

The Transport Minister does not want the situation in Johor to happen elsewhere where it will only waste the rakyat’s time. Rakyat will be upset to perform any Motor Vehicle Licenses (LKM) or Malaysian Driving Licenses (LMM) errands.

“I will try my best to bridge the gap between JPJ’s plans and the rakyat’s aspirations. Services rendered should always be good, smooth, time-saving and fulfilling the needs of the people,” Wee said.
