Toyota Corolla Cross Launched Its Hybrid Variant

UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has launched its first line-up of Hybrid Electric Technology vehicles, the aspiring Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid assembled locally in Selangor.
A total of three Corolla Cross variants have been introduced including Corolla Cross 1.8V and Corolla Cross 1.8G available in six different colours and priced range from RM123,00 to RM137,000, respectively. All prices are estimated on-the-road prices inclusive of sales tax but without insurance.

The company also achieved a great sales target in October, with 8,500 units of Toyota and Lexus models. This has inspired the company to grow bigger and by unveiling their latest vehicles, all buyers will have a taste of driving an electric car at an affordable price. Cumulative sales increase till the end of October were 54,618 units in total.
In conjunction with the 2022 Budget, Toyota Malaysia is pleased with the continuation of the SST starting from December 31, 2021, until June 30, 2022.
An income tax relief of up to RM2,500 for each person who incurs expenditures on facilities related to EVs could encourage more Malaysians to switch to EV vehicles and help a greener ecosystem by reducing co2 emissions.

Engine-wise, the power output for the Hybrid variant is 97hp at 5,200 rpm with 142 Nm of torque at 3,600 rpm for the petrol engine, while the electric motor provides 53 kW which equals 71 hp and 163 Nm of torque. The total output is about 122 hp. Drivers can easily switch mode to Sport, ECO, Normal and EV since it is equipped with an E-CVT power delivery system.
Both Corolla Cross 1.8V and 1.8G, are using a similar powertrain as launched previously. A 1.8-litre DOHC 16-valve petrol engine with Dual VVT-I delivers 137 hp of power at 6,400 rpm with 172 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The 7-speed Sequential Shiftmatic transmission (CVT) also offers a manual selection of gears.

Toyota Corolla has reinvented its exterior design by applying the concept of “Urban Toughness” which looks like an SUV. The new Corolla Cross 1.8V and 1.8G, both versions have Bi-LED headlamps with LED Daytime Running Lights that employ a Light Curtain Design. With the sporty and aggressive look, roof rail is an added feature to the car. Inside the cabin, given an extra height to provide a more spacious room.
The Corolla Cross 1.8V now comes with LED illumination on the front door trim, cup holder and tray giving a high-quality feel. At the front, the driver's seat has an 8-way Power Adjustment while the rear seat backrest may be folded by 6 degrees to expand the boot space from its standard 440 litres.

There’s also the powered rear door of the Toyota Corolla now is available with a hands-free opening operation with the kick sensor beneath the bumper. Toyota Corolla Cross infotainment system, which uses a 9-inch touchscreen display, consists of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Two Type-C USB ports at the back for charging portable devices, and users can even add the optional wireless charger pad. A smoother driving with the Corolla Cross Hybrid's efficient powertrain due to the installation of better-insulating windshield glass and a bonnet silencer. Additional vents for the rear area provide cool air for rear passengers for improved comfort.
All three variants of Toyota Corolla Cross - 1.8 Hybrid, 1.8V and 1.8G variants have Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) 2.0 to help drivers in avoiding a collision.
The safety systems in TSS 2.0 consist of a Pre- Collision System (PCS), Lane Departure Alert (LDA) with Steering Assist, Lane Tracing Assist (LTA), Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC), and Automatic High Beam (AHB).

Other safety features included are Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA), 3D Panoramic View Monitor, Driver Start Control, and a Tyre Pressure Warning System (TPWS). A Front Driving Video Recorders (DVR) is standard, and customers can also choose to add a rear-mounted DVR.
The price of Toyota Corolla Cross 1.8 Hybrid is priced at RM137,000. Meanwhile, Toyota Corolla Cross 1.8V is RM129,000 and
Toyota Corolla Cross 1.8G is priced at RM123,000 while Toyota Corolla Cross 1.8V is RM129,000. Lastly, the Toyota Corolla Cross is priced at RM137,000. All variants are inclusive of the Sales Tax Reduction (SST) exemption.
