The All-New Porsche 911 Turbo S; The Definition Of Avant-Garde

Sime Darby Auto Performance Sdn Bhd revealed the new generation 911 Turbo S, following the launch of the Sime Darby Motors City at Ara Damansara.

Under the hood, houses the new 3.8-litre boxer engine that includes two VTG turbochargers, paired with the Turbo-specific eight-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission that produces 641 hp and a maximum torque of 800 Nm.

With the top speed remaining at 330 km/h, the 911 Turbo S is 0.2 seconds faster going from 0 to 100 km/h as compared to its previous model. As for 0 to 200 kmh, it is one second quicker at 8.9 seconds.

The engine was based on the 911 Carrera engine generation and features a revised air cooling system, a larger VTG turbochargers in a symmetrical layout with electrically adjustable wastegate flaps, and also have added the use of piezo injectors.

Also included is the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive that helps to distribute the torque, with up to 500 Nm that will be sent to the front wheels. In addition to that, the new generation of the standard PASM chassis comes with an even sportier feel to it.

“The Porsche Turbo designation is synonymous with outstanding performance, even when it was first introduced. The forefather of all Turbos (the 930 generation) was indeed a technical revolution in car production and has been improved time and time again. This is even more so with the new 911 Turbo S. While it performs at the level of a supercar, the daily driveability remains outstanding. It is this flexibility to react to different situations that makes the 911 Turbo S a personal favourite of mine. Combining unprecedented power, driving dynamics and comfort with efficiency builds a bridge from tradition to innovation with this new generation,” says it's chief executive officer Christopher Hunter.

In terms of pricing, the all-new 911 Turbo S comes with the starting price of RM 2,235,463 within the SST exemption period.

Another key feature available on the 911 Turbo S is the Porsche Active Aerodynamics (PAA) that helps the aerodynamic characteristics adapt more precisely to driving situation, speed and selected driving modes. A new addition includes controlled cooling air flaps at the front of the vehicle, as well as a bigger rear wing for more downforce.

The 911 Turbo S now uses two different sizes of tyres and transfers its power to the road. At the front, there are 20-inch tyres with the dimensions of 255/35, while at the rear there are 21-inch tyres with the dimensions of 315/30.

Also made available is a new Eco configuration that allows the rear wing to be retracted over an increased speed range. Next to that is Wet Mode that focuses on the driving stability in wet conditions.

For additional safety, the new airbrake function will be automatically activated in the event of full braking at high speed. For a higher drag and increased downforce, the front spoiler and rear wing was also moved to the Performance position.

On top of that, the revised six-cylinder engine is drawn out by a new intake system where the processed air now flows through the characteristic Turbo air intakes in the rear side sections.

The vehicle now comes with standard LED matrix headlights with dark inserts, a restructured extendable spoiler at the front, as well as a greater rear wing and high-gloss black rectangular tailpipes.

Standard equipment inside the cabin include a full leather finish and carbon trim that is combined with light silver accents. Other than that, the 18-way adjustable sports seats also come with stitching in honour of the first 911 Turbo (type 930).

Not only that, the centre screen of the PCM is currently 10.9-inches and is incredibly user friendly, now with a less distracting layout with less controls. To add on, there are also features such as the GT sports steering wheel, the Chrono package that includes a brand new Porsche Track Precision app and also the BOSE® Surround Sound system.
