Google Map Gets You The Best Route Based On Your Fuel Type

Google is keeping up with the development in the automotive industry with the newly added function to show EV drivers the most efficient route for them to take advantage of the regenerative braking. However, this feature so far only has been rolled out in North America and coming soon in Europe.

In order to use this feature, drivers would first select the type of fuel their vehicle is powered by, be it petrol, diesel, hybrid or electric. After which Google's mapping software will recommend the most efficient route to be used with a similar ETA to your destination.

User will get recommended routes based on what their vehicle is power by.

For example, diesel-powered vehicles will be routed to high-speed highways, where the diesel engines will perform most efficiently, whereas hybrid and EV’s would be suggested to include some B roads to better make use of their regenerative braking feature to lower mileage.

We would like to assume that Google is rolling out this feature based on the EV adoption rates of countries which would mean we at Malaysia would have to wait quite a while more before this feature is rolled out here. However, in the meantime let's push for more charging stations to be set-up to keep up with the growing number of electric vehicles being launched and sold.
