Pricing For The Honda City RS e: HEV Has Finally Been Announced! - RM107,783 On The Road, Including The Sales And Service Tax
Honda Malaysia has finally announced pricing for the top-of-the-line RS e:HEV variant two months after the 2017 Honda City Hatchback was unveiled.
The hybrid variant costs RM107,783 on the road, including the sales and service tax (SST) rebate, which is available until June 30.
As a result, the RS e:HEV is approximately RM20,000 more expensive than the 1.5 V and nearly RM2,000 more costly than the corresponding sedan. As is customary, the price includes a five-year, unlimited-mileage guarantee as well as five free service visits.
That money will get you an electric motor that will move the RS e:HEV and produce 109 PS and 253 Nm of torque. It's powered by a 1.5-litre Atkinson-cycle i-VTEC four-cylinder engine and a lithium-ion battery (which, by the way, comes with an eight-year, unlimited-mileage warranty).
The latter produces 98 PS between 5,600 and 6,400 rpm and 127 Nm between 4,500 and 5,000 rpm, which is used to power the motor and drive the automobile directly at higher speeds via a single-speed transmission with a lock-up clutch. The RS e:HEV can go from zero to 100 km/h in 9.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 175 km/h; Honda claims fuel consumption of 3.6 litres per 100 km.
Another advantage of selecting the top-of-the-line model is the assurance of safety. Only the RS e:HEV currently receives the entire Honda Sensing suite of driver assistance functions, including autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane centring aid, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high beam. According to the 1.5 V, six airbags, stability control, and the LaneWatch blind-spot camera are all standard.
A gloss black grille bar, darkened LED headlamp internals, louvred front fog light surrounds, and a wide rear diffuser-like bumper insert distinguishes the sportier RS (short for Road Sailing) on the outside (which is covered in a fake carbon fibre pattern, as is the front spoiler). The 16-inch alloy wheels are also two-toned, and the door mirrors and tailgate spoiler extensions are gloss black.
Inside, there's red stitching, alloy pedals, black headlining, and red illumination for the air-conditioning controls, as well as a seven-inch instrument display next to an analogue rev counter, which isn't available on the sedan. The only City Hatchback featuring rear air vents, which are standard on the sedan, is the RS.
Keyless entry with remote engine start, push-button start, soft-touch dashboard trim, single-zone automatic temperature control, an eight-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, eight speakers, and a reverse camera are among the standard features.
