The Taycan, The Panamera And The Cayenne Will Receive Porsche Track Precision App (PTPA)
Porsche just announced its new expansion of the Porsche Track Precision App (PTPA), allowing more Porsche owners to track their lap times and improve their driving experience.
Three models that will be privileged by the apps are the Taycan, the Panamera and the Cayenne. The one caveat, though, is that the vehicle must have the Sport Chrono package installed to use the app.
Porsche claims that its performance lineup isn't confined to two-door cars, citing recent lap records (for their respective segments) established by the Taycan Turbo (2019), Panamera Turbo S (2020), and Cayenne Turbo GT (2021) at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife as proof of their vehicles' capability.
By exploring further the app’s availability, more and more Porsche owners will be able to identify the true performance potential of their vehicles. The app does more than a data recorder, and PTPA has also been engineered to act as a driving coach with its data visualisation feature.
The PTPA connects to the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system through WiFi to access control unit information in the vehicle. Using this method, it can read vehicle position, speed, rpm, braking force, steering angle, longitudinal and lateral acceleration, and other telemetry data.
Not only that, you can even record lap times when you’re at a circuit and film the racing line using the PTPA. These features can be accessed through Apple CarPlay and shown on the PCM system, after which your performance can be examined and compared to that of other drivers. The app contains information on over 300 race tracks across the world.
In addition to expanding the PTPA's availability, Porsche claims that in 2022 it will add new functions to the app.
