Toyota Gazoo Racing’s Limited-Edition GRMN Yaris, Presented At The Tokyo Auto Salon 2022

Premiered at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2022 by Toyota Gazoo Racing (TGR), the GRMN Yaris’ 500-unit limited edition sales will begin this summer at GR Garages nationwide.
Along with it is the activation of two new programs, delivering to customers the type of daily vehicle evolution and driver-tailored customisation that takes place in motorsports.
Generally, the GRMN Yaris is a fully tuned model of the GR Yaris that has gone through rigorous refinement with professional drivers.

Its growth began from Toyota’s president, who wants to ‘deliver cars to customers that evolve quickly and can be tailored to individuals like in the field of motorsports.’
As such, by using lessons learned from motorsports competition, its overall body rigidity has been enhanced significantly.
E.g., the weight has been reduced by 20 kg, overall width increased by 10 mm for aerodynamic improvement, and vehicle height reduced by 10 mm for a lower centre of gravity.

Also, it uses mechanical LSD, a close-ratio gear transmission, and a low final gear set, which has been improved through repeated ‘breaking and fixing’.
Additionally, through the two Update Program and Personalization Program services, Toyota furthers the intended motto of ‘cars that evolve quickly and can be tailored to individuals.’
On one hand, the GRMN Yaris offers the enjoyment of race-car-like ongoing progress by achieving real-time car evolution for each race with the Update Program.

Whereas on the other hand, the Personalization Program brings out the performance by tailoring the car to the driver’s driving experiences.
Apart from that, the GMNR Yaris is offered with a Circuit Package that focuses on on-road performance based on feedback from the Super Taikyu Series.
Notably, the Circuit Package is available in a special Matte Steel exterior colour and is sold as a 50-unit limited edition.

That’s not all, as a special dealer-installed option, a Rally Package made up of parts to enhance driving performance on all road surfaces, based on feedback from the All Japan Rally, is also offered.
However, for those who have already purchased a GR Yaris, GR parts that allow customers to experience some of the GRMN Yaris performance will be available around Fall 2022.
The reservation lottery for the GRMN Yaris started last January and is currently ongoing on the TGR Website.

All in all, based on the GR Yaris, the GRMN Yaris has achieved the ultimate in lightweight sports 4WD by applying a wide range of technologies and parts developed through motorsports.
