Have you started packing for the return trip this weekend?
But, are you sure your another car is still at home when you return from the village later, as burglary or theft crime is expected to increase the coming Aidilfitri season.
"After two years of people not being able to return to the village, we expect this year many houses will be left empty (during the festive season) and this is a challenge for the police to ensure each house is safe and not broken into by thieves."- Sentul District Police Chief ACP Beh Eng Lai.
How to return to the village in peace when I have to leave the car at home?
worry not!
Here's a list of 7 things you can do to prevent the car from being stolen or broken into. Some of the tips listed can also help save not only your car but your home.
#1 Install a light timer
An open light is the most obvious indicator of whether or not a house is empty. However, you can't turn on the lights without also turning them off if you return to the village for a few days; this can not only cause the bill to be higher than usual, but it's also dangerous because you risk getting burned. As a result, consider using a light timer.
#2 Install a CCTV system in the parking area of the house
In the market, there are various types of security cameras or CCTV. The most intriguing type, however, is the type that can be connected with Wi-Fi. CCTV with this Wi-Fi connection allows users to receive motion notifications or view the camera from anywhere. Even better if you're looking for infrared CCTV or a night view. There is also a CCTV with a two-way audio function, allowing you to directly'sergah' the robbers seen in the camera.
#3 Not enough budget to make no. 2? Just install 'fake' CCTV (dummy)
Perhaps you've been shopping for a while, you know, you haven't been back to Raya in two years. Don't worry, there are still options for scaring the robbers. Fake CCTV can be found and installed in any visible location.
#4 Install the steering wheel lock
Car thieves' intentions can be thwarted by installing a steering wheel lock. When a car's steering wheel is locked, thieves will usually ignore it and look for another empty car with no security protection to save time.
#5 Install a GPS tracker
Even if the keys have been returned to the village, thieves with the'skills' they possess can still start your car's engine. Install GPS to make it easier to track the location of the car if it is stolen.
#6 Install tinted security (Security film)
If you want to keep something from being stolen from your car, installing tinted security will most likely keep the car from being successfully broken into.
Security tinted mirrors add thickness to the mirror by combining several layers of tinted film with a strong adhesive. Click here for more information on this tinted technology.
#7 Ask a friend or neighbor to visit the house
Enlist the assistance of a trusted friend or a nearby neighbour to keep the house in good condition on a daily basis. This can help to liven up the atmosphere of the house and prevent it from appearing too empty.
Tips: Don't leave locks under carpets, in vases, or in similar places, as this is an overused technique. The thief has probably figured out where you hid the key.
