After Supra, A Sporty Toyota GR Camry Might Be On The Way
Toyota recently added a manual transmission option to the Supra and is looking to grow the sub-brand. The Camry, which would compete well against the Kia K5 GT and the Hyundai Sonata N Line, could be the next model up.
When asked about a sedan joining the GR lineup, Bob Carter, executive vice president of sales at Toyota Motor Company to "stay tuned." While he did not elaborate, there is room for it in the lineup, especially since he previously stated that SUVs under the GR sub-brand would not be available in the near future.
It might be a Camry or could also be a four-door version of the GR Corolla, which is rumoured to be in development according to Japanese reports.
Toyota also revealed the bZ4X GR Sport Concept earlier this year, which could be the first EV under the GR sub-brand. It would also be Toyota's first SUV under the company's performance division.
Toyota is looking at other zero emissions options, as they are currently testing a GR Corolla with a hydrogen combustion engine, "which is basically a three-cylinder internal combustion engine with a few modifications so its running on hydrogen.
