Launched: 2025 Toyota Camry 2.5V – 2.5L N/A Engine, RM221,800

Silently making its debut today is the non-hybrid variant of the ninth-gen Toyota Camry, priced at RM221,800.
In case you missed it, the ninth-generation (XV80) Toyota Camry recently made its Malaysian debut at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show 2024 (KLIMS 2024) earlier this month, arriving in a sole 2.5 HEV version. However, it seems like UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has silently launched the baseline, non-hybrid variant of this new D-segment saloon, namely the 2025 Toyota Camry 2.5V.

As its name suggests, the Camry 2.5V gets a non-hybrid powertrain setup comprising a familiar 2.5-litre 4-cyl naturally-aspirated Dynamic Force engine that delivers 201 HP and 246 NM—the same unit used on the previous-gen model. Similarly, said engine is also mated to an eight-speed Direct Shift automatic gearbox that helps to drive the front wheels (FWD) for a 0-100 KM/H sprint time of 8.9 seconds and a V-max of 210 KM/H.
Thanks to the absence of a hybrid setup, the Camry 2.5V weighs 80 KG less than the 2.5 HEV variant. Not to forget, the non-hybrid Camry also gets a larger fuel tank of 60 litres, which is somewhat necessary given that it gets a higher fuel consumption rate of 6.6 litres per 100 KM, as opposed to the 2.5 HEV’s 4 litres per 100 KM claimed rate.

Visually, the Camry 2.5V looks identical to its hybrid twin, with the midsize saloon also rolling on 18-inch alloy wheels finished in two-tone silver and black hue, while at the same time being offered in the same colour options, namely Emotional Red 2, Platinum White Pearl Mica, Previous Metal, Attitude Black Mica, Cement Grey Metallic and Dark Blue Mica. The only notable difference between the two variants is the absence of Toyota’s HEV badges around the exterior.

On-board equipment is also similar for the Camry 2.5V, as the non-hybrid variant gets all the bells and whistles primed on the 2.5 HEV model. Included are things such as the 12.3-inch central infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, power-adjustable steering wheel, ventilated and powered front seats, a nine-speaker JBL sound system, built-in front and rear dashcams, a wireless charging pad, as well as the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite that adds a host of ADAS functions.

According to UMWT’s official website, the all-new 2025 Toyota Camry 2.5V currently retails at RM221,800 on-the-road sans insurance, making it RM27,000 less than the 2.5 HEV model launched prior. Included with said price is a 5-year unlimited mileage vehicle warranty provided by UMWT.
So folks, what do you think of the new 2025 Toyota Camry 2.5V? Would you prefer this non-hybrid, naturally-aspirated D-segment saloon over its more fuel economical but slightly pricier semi-electrified twin? As always, don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comments down below…
