Manifested Under The Brand’s Special Projects Division, Pagani Presents The Huayra Codalunga

A creation of Pagani Grandi Complicazioni, the brand’s special projects division, a new iteration of the already stunning Huayra, Pagani presents the Codalunga, Italian for ‘longtail’.
Extensive work went into the creation, where it took two years just to complete the design. A phase that involved building quarter- and full-scale models.

The Codalunga’s proposal came from two enthusiasts of the brand, who approached Pagani in 2018 and requested for a long-tail version of the Huayra.
Significantly, a Huayra that radiates a modernized design, one that is evocative of the grand race cars of the 1960s.

All the colors and materials selected were to recall those early racers, but blended together with modern touches like exposed carbon fiber.
Then, also to recall the manual methods of the past, where the parts are to be individually polished by hand, is the machining of aluminum components in the cabin from a single block.

Elsewhere, the Codalunga’s body is made from lightweight composites, with its extended tail needing a stretched engine cover 360 mm longer than the cover on the standard Huayra.
Despite the lengthened body, the Codalunga's dry weight of 1,280 kg is approximately 70 kg lesser than the Huayra.

Other weight-saving measures included the deletion of the rear grilles and the addition of a titanium exhaust.
To complete the exterior, the Codalunga gets forged wheels measuring 20 inches at the front and 21 at the rear. Wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Corsas 265/30 and 355/25 rubbers respectively.

Lurking in the engine bay is the same twin-turbocharged 6.0 litre V12 found in the standard Huayra, but tuned up to 827 hp and 1,100 Nm of neck-splitting torque.
Said powerplant is married to a seven-speed sequential transmission that drives the rear wheels. Plus, also fitted are carbon-ceramic brakes.

Detailed specs are yet to be confirmed, but a 0 to 100 km/h time of 3 seconds and a top speed of 345 km/h (220 mph) is possible, given the similar performance levels of other Huayra models.
Pricing-wise, it starts from EUR 7 million (RM 32,423,807), just five of the Pagani Huayra Codalunga are to be built with each claimed to have been spoken for.

That said, although only having a five-unit production, this head turner was also developed to be approved for road use all over the world.
