The Presidential State Car of Russia, A 6,350 Kg Limousine, The Aurus Senat
Ever heard of the Aurus Senat, the official Presidential State Car of Russia, well, it is definitely one of the cars that would make a person go speechless.
Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation is known to splurge on luxury items, and this one in particular is an incredibly luxurious, 6,350 kg, Russian-made limousine.
Right off the bat, it looks like a doppelganger to one of the models from a very established carmaker. Specifically, it resembles the current-generation Rolls Royce Phantom.
In standard guise, the Aurus Senat weighs just under 2,722 kg, however, Putin’s Senat weighs over 6,350 kg, due to some wild modifications.
E.g., bulletproof armor, reinforced glass, bomb-resistant underfloor protection, solid ‘run-flat’ rubber tires, an integrated weapons system and a self-contained oxygen supply.
The interior is very luxurious, accounting it being an RR look-a-like. It features swathes of real wood and Russian leather, and a champagne fridge that comes as standard.
Under the hood, claimed to be developed in cooperation with Porsche, the Senat is fitted with a twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre petrol V8.
Said petrol mill combined with a single-motor electric hybrid system, boast an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6 seconds, for the standard version that is.
Pricing-wise, the Aurus Senat tags at RUB 18 million (RM 1,481,701), which is about half the price of its doppelganger, and it is said that a hydrogen-powered Senat might be coming.
Aurus has already started distributing the Senat to the Middle East and China, and are reportedly developing a luxury full-size SUV, the Aurus Komendant.
Overall, the Aurus Senat was introduced as Russia’s state car in 2018 and replaced the Mercedes-Benz S600 Putin used to be driven in.
