Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+ flagship EV saloon premiers Malaysia - RM698,888

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) sees its all-electric EQ range grow locally following the introduction of the Mercedes-Benz EQS earlier today. The firm now offers said flagship electric saloon solely in EQS 450+ form, and it commands a price tag of RM698,888 sans insurance.

Apart from the EQS, MBM also seized the opportunity to preview two more additions to the local EQ electric line up - the EQB and EQC electric crossovers. We’ll have more on these in a separate posting.

Back to the EQS and, as the flagship offering in the EQ range, it is endowed with all the advanced and intelligent bells and whistles expected of the famed three-point star marque.

Key highlights include the massive MBUX Hyperscreen that conquers the forward cabin, a myriad of semi-autonomous driver assistance systems, LTE-powered AI-driven connectivity functions, and much more. As for the exterior, the Malaysian-spec EQS 450+ comes dressed in AMG Line motif complete with 21-inch AMG alloy wheels at each corner.

On to the powertrain front, the EQS 450+ harnesses a single electric motor unit powering the rear wheels. Drawing power from a 107kWh battery pack, the system outputs 245 kW [333 HP] and 565 NM, granting 0-100 KM/H in just 6.2 secs whilst enroute towards an electronically-limited 210 KM/H top speed.
Powertrain aside, the EQS 450+ also benefits with a myriad of notable chassis features to match. Highlights here include Airmatic adaptive suspension and damping, rear axle steering, as well as Dynamic Select drive modes selection amongst many others.

In terms of range, EQS 450+ has a claimed WLTP range of 631 KM to 782 KM. MBM were keen to note that they’ve conducted their own tests prior to the launch, which saw the EQS 450+ complete a round trip from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru and back on a single charge, covering 650 KM the process.
Equally impressive here too is the claimed rapid charging ability the EQS 450+ boasts. According to MBM, it takes just 31 minutes to attain 80% charge from 10% when using a 200kW DC fast-charging unit.
However, those wishing to charge the EQS 450+ using 11kW AC charging units, take note that this will take much longer - roughly 10 hours to attain 100% charge from 10%.

Following today’s launch, the Mercedes-Benz EQS 450+ is now open for orders through all authorised dealers nationwide. Notably, the aforementioned price includes a four-year, unlimited-mileage warranty plus an EV battery warranty that covers 10 years or 250,000 KM.
