Next-gen Porsche 911 GT3 RS poised for Aug 17 premier

Heads up Porsche-philes, the current-gen 911 (992) GT3 is set to get a bigger brother very soon. That’s right, Porsche have confirmed that it will hold an online premier of its latest and greatest 911 model to date, by which we mean the 911 GT3 RS.
Said model has been spied undergoing tests several times already over the last few months, and it seems thing are finally set for its big reveal. The firm have announced that this will take place next month on Aug 17 via an online broadcast.
Though Porsche hasn’t released nor confirmed any specifications or performance data, the new GT3 RS is expected to use the same formula as its predecessors, but it will raise the bar further.

At the heart of things will be the Stuttgart-based sportscar marque’s signature rear-mounted flat-six mill derived from the current 911 GT3 (pictured above), albeit in a higher state of tune. Naturally aspirated, it will have the same 4.0-litre displacement as the GT3 it underpins, but reports suggest it the mill have an output greater than the 512 HP figure held by the outgoing 991.2-gen 911 GT3 RS.
Crucially, the new GT3 RS is also expected to harness advanced new aerodynamic solutions inspired by the 911 RSR and GT3 R GT racecars, which will further emphasise on the model’s “race car for the road” ethos.

That said, we can also expect this new GT3 RS to further improve upon its predecessor’s claimed 0-100 KM/H sprint time of 3.2 seconds and 310 KM/H V-Max, and perhaps an even quicker laptime around the infamous Nurburgring Nordschleife – the outgoing GT3 RS did it in a scarcely-believable 6 minutes and 56.4 secs [6:56.4s].
“The new 911 GT3 RS is even more optimised for track use than its predecessors. The spontaneously responsive, high-revving four-litre, six-cylinder boxer engine with approximately 500 PS has proven ideal for use at trackdays and club sport events,” said Andreas Preuninger, Director GT Model Line, ahead of the model’s upcoming launch.
“That's why we focused primarily on aerodynamics and chassis questions in the development of the new 911 GT3 RS,” Preuninger added.
