NMoto’s “Golden Age”; A Retro-Designed Custom Scooter
At first glance, this retro style scooter looks like a Vespa. But this machine nicknamed ‘Golden Age’ was originally a BMW C400 X!
This is the latest handiwork of the famous custom company from Florida, NMoto. With the help of Zillers Motorcycles, a Moscow -based custom motorcycle garage, the C400 X that originally looked like an alien robot from the planet Cybertron now looks like a two -wheeled Volkswagen Beetle!
The Beetle was not an inspiration for the Golden Age. According to NMoto CEO Alex Niznik, the pre-war era design of this machine was inspired by the Henderson Streamliner motorcycle built by O.Ray Courtney in 1936.
This unique body kit is manufactured by Zillers and is made entirely of composite carbon fiber to ensure it is not too heavy. The lightness of this kit, as well as its smooth and aerodynamic surface, allows the Golden Age to reach a maximum speed of 144km/h, about 6km/h higher than the C400 X.
NMoto did not specify whether the original C400 X engine had been modified or not. However, we know the 350cc single -cylinder engine with liquid cooling technology generates 34hp at 7,500rpm and 35Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. Power is channeled to the rear wheels via a CVT type gearbox.
The Golden Age is also rumoured to have a maximum inclination angle of up to 35 degrees, which is more than 1 degree greater than the inclination angle of the Harley-Davidson Sportster S.
This scooter has also undergone further changes, such as the installation of new front and rear subframes and a new turn signal housing. The exhaust system's orientation was also changed, and the exhaust flow now emerges from a small grille aperture at the base of the rear fairing.
ABS, Automatic Stability Control, a 6.5-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth connectivity, and storage space behind the seats are all still in working order. The seat has a central locking system and heating.
The objective of NMoto is to provide 100 DIY or pre-assembled Golden Age kits. Additionally, customers can purchase extras like bespoke upholstery, air suspension, luggage racks, LED lighting systems, side mirrors, and headlights and turn lights specially designed based on different markets.
