Revealed In Its New Charging Station’s Plan, The Tesla Supercharger V4
A sleeker outlook compared to its precursors, the design of Tesla’s new Supercharger V4 for the EV giant’s new station in Danvers, Massachusetts revealed.
As proposed in the new station’s construction plan, the new Supercharger will get a new design refresh, aside from internal technology updates.
Tesla’s work on a new generation Supercharger is affirmed as the company stated that it is upgrading its robust charging technology to a peak charge rate of 300 to 350-kW.
Also in planning is the integration of the CCS connector to the Supercharger network in North America to open its network to non-Tesla EVs, just like in Europe.
In the plan, the new post called ‘Alternative Tesla Supercharger Post’ can be seen side by side with the Supercharger V3 Post.
It shows that the new design doesn’t feature the same protected cable inside the post opening, and the cable appears to be longer.
On top of that, the new Supercharger V4 is also designed significantly taller than both of the previous builds.
To further compare, it resembles Tesla’s latest Supercharger post design, the 72-kW Urban Supercharger, but fairly bigger in size.
The Urban Supercharger is meant for garages and parking lots in cities, and is not a new generation of the Supercharger design.
Regardless, it is something that Tesla has been deploying along with the current Supercharger post design.
That said, the first-generation Supercharger was quite robust-looking with its square and block-like layout, though the one that comes after that is alike but more refined.
Of which, the second-generation design is what most Tesla owners associate with when they use the Supercharger ecosystem today.
