2022 all-electric Mazda MX-30, nearly sold out in the United States?

You are not reading the headline wrong. As reported, the 2022 Mazda MX-30 (BEV) named as a completely sold-out model in California has conveyed an impression especially in the market. Perhaps, it’s not a shocking news to some, however, in the case of Mazda’s first battery-electric vehicles, this is quite intriguing.
The 2022 MX-30 EV announced to be ‘out of stock’ in July last month whilst the car maker sold a total of 505 units since September 2021 including the 324 sold units this year although only 8 were delivered last month.

According to a source, Mazda could have sold each unit of 2022 MX-30 that were supposed to be built for the United States market, and it would have met the 560-production goal if it wasn’t because of production issues.
However, the production shortfall experienced a moderate impact on MX-30 production and US sales.
The feedback should encourage Mazda to develop high-volume BEVs. Meanwhile, the company must concentrate on its operations, as overall sales fell by more than 25% in the first seven months of the year.

No one expected high volumes because the model was considered a compliance car due to its relatively low volume and minimal effort just to comply with regulations. With an EPA driving range of only up to 100 miles (161 km), it is best suited for those looking for a second or third vehicle in the household.
The Japanese car maker has not confirmed whether the 2023 model year will be released. There is also no official word on a plug-in hybrid version (REx), so stay tuned with Caricarz to know more!
