BMW Malaysia delivers 90 fully-subsidised child car seats to B40 households

BMW Group Malaysia, in collaboration with Safe 'n Sound, handed over 90 fully-subsidised child car seats to parents within the B40 community as part of the NEXTStep subsidy programme. A total of 12 seats were delivered at yesterday’s handover ceremony, with the rest delivered separately to eligible parents across the country.
Launched back in May this year, the NEXTStep grant program is part of the brand's ongoing BMW Safety 360° initiative collected over the past year through BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia. Parents and families with children (up to 36 kg in weight) with a household income below RM3,500 can apply for a fully subsidised child seat.

BMW NEXTStep aims to promote road safety for children by making child seats more accessible for low-income families. With more than 900 registrations received during the application period, the program reinforces the need to make child safety seats accessible to low-income families.
The fully subsidised child car seats provided to families, as part of the NEXTStep Subsidy Programme, include the following models (listed with their normal retail price):
snskidz Ace (infant carrier) – RM199
snskidz sport (convertible seat) – RM 279
snskidz Whizz (ISOFIX seat) – RM499
snskidz Proto (combination booster seat) – RM399
Mifold (booster seat) – RM199

BMW Group Malaysia Managing Director, Hans de Visser said, “The overwhelming response we have received for this subsidy programme highlights the crucial need for us to make child car seats more accessible to the public, especially to lower-income families."
“We hope to continue advocating for the uptake of child car seats amongst families in Malaysia, while also raising awareness and encouraging more parents to act independently in ensuring the highest level of safety for their children while on the road,” added de Visser further.
