New Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster is a 342 kmh-capable topless hypercar

American tuners and builders of the Venom F5 hypercar Hennessey took centre stage at the Monterey Car Week event by unveiling a topless Roadster version of said hypercar. According to the Texas-based firm, the Venom F5 Roadster’s creation stemmed from the many request by its clients to have it made.

Like its coupe twin, the Venom F5 Roadster packs the same 6.6-litre twin-turbocharged ‘Fury’ V8 heart mounted in the chassis’s mid-section, delivering a whopping 1,817 hp and 1,617 Nm of twist. Both are transmitted the rear wheels via a 7-speed semi-automatic box that Hennessey paired with said mill.
According to Hennessey, this Roadster version of the Venom F5 is 45kg heavier than said coupe, tipping the scales at just 1,406kg. The firm did not reveal any performance data, but it’s believed aforementioned slight weight increase will not affect this Roadster’s ability to closely match its coupe twin’s performance abilities.
For reference, the hard-topped Venom F5 is capable of sprinting from nought to 249 mph (400 kmh) in just 15.5 seconds whilst enroute towards it’s a top speed well beyond 300 mph (483 kmh).

Of course, said hyperspeed thrills now come with wind-in-hair magic thanks to the Roadster’s offer of a removeable roof made out of carbon fibre – just like the rest of the hypercar’s exterior panels. Said hard-top can be set in place using both quick-release bolts and latches.
Ironically, though Hennessey provides a Merino wool storage bag and a custom-made display pedestal for owners to place the roof section on in their garages (or living room), there isn’t space for them to keep it in the car itself.

Another change from the coupe is the Roadster’s tempered glass window that replaces the slatted engine cover in the Coupe. This gives owners – as well as onlookers – away to clearly marvel at the Venom F5 Roadster’s monstrous V8 heart.

Again, unlike the Venom F5 coupe, which saw just 24 build slots offered by Hennessey at US$2.1 million (approx. RM9.4 million), the firm will reportedly offer a slightly larger 30-unit production run for this Roadster version. It will also cost slightly more than the coupe at US$3 million apiece (approx. RM13.43 million).
Furthermore, Hennessey also stated plans to hold a top speed record run with its new Venom F5 Roadster, but not before another attempt with its hard-topped Venom F5. This will likely take place after production for both cars commences later this year.
