Launched: 2022 Ford Everest 7-seat SUV – 3 variants, from RM263,888

Authorised Ford importers and distributors Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC) sees its local line up updated today following the introduction of the new 2022 Ford Everest 7-seat SUV. The Malaysian-spec Everest range comprises three variants plus two powertrain options.
Like the fully refreshed Ranger pick-up truck it underpins, the new Everest merges rugged, go-anywhere capability with a dash of modern styling, amenities and tech to give it a near unrivalled versatility both on- and off-road.

Compared to the outgoing model it replaces, the new Everest has also grown slightly with a 50mm longer wheelbase and 50mm wider track too – just like its Ranger pick-up truck twin. It also sports a front fascia design that mirrors said pick-up truck twin, C-shaped LED headlights and prominent grille included.
The Everest is offered in base Sport, mid-spec Trend, and flagship Titanium variants, each offering varying degrees of features. In terms of powertrains, the Sport gets the sole 2.0-litre single-turbo 4-cyl diesel mill that delivers 170 PS and 405 NM. It also gets paired with a 6-speed automatic and 4x2 driveline setup.

Both the Trend and Titanium variants get the 2.0-lite bi-turbo 4-cyl diesel mills instead, as well as 10-speed automatic transmissions and 4x4 drivelines. This is the peppier of the two powertrain choices available, offering 210 PS and a meatier 500 NM of twist too.

Additionally, both the Trend and Titanium see their 4x4 drivelines brimmed further with electronic shift-on-the-fly system, e-locking rear differential as well as six selectable drive modes: Normal, Eco, Tow/Haul, Slippery, Mud/Ruts, and Sand. The Base Sport, on the other hand, offers just four selectable drive modes: Normal, Eco, Tow/Haul, and Slippery.
On board, the Everest’s cabin mirrors the Ranger pick-up truck yet again here, albeit with more space for up to seven occupants across three rows of seats.

Depending on variant, key features include an 8-inch or 12-inch digital instrument display panel, USB charge ports plus wireless Qi charging pad, 12-inch and 10.1-inch infotainment displays offering Apple and Android connectivity, as well as 360-degree camera with split-view display.
Another area where the Everest mirrors the Ranger twin lies in both safety and driver assistance packages. The level of equipment again varies depending on variant, but highlights include blind-spot info, lane-departure warning and assist, adaptive cruise control with stop-go and lane centering, evasive steer assist, reverse brake assist, as well as autonomous emergency braking amongst many others.

As for the basics, ABS with EBD, stability and traction controls, emergency brake assist, hill-descent control, hill-launch assist, as well as roll-over mitigation and adaptive load control all come as standard across the board.
Keen on this 7-seat offshoot of the Ranger? Bookings can now be made through authorised dealers where prices start from RM263,888 for the Everest Sport, from RM281,888 for the Everest Trend, and from RM308,888 for the flagship Everest Titanium variant. All prices include a 3-year or 100,000KM plus a 2-year or 60,000KM extended warranties as well.
