One-off Ferrari SP51 unveiled with V12 and an open top

The fabled Italian prancing horse marque is no stranger to making one-off specials, especially for a select group of customers. The latest of which featured here, crafted by the Flavio Manzoni-headed Ferrari Styling Centre, is called the SP51 and it was commissioned by a Taiwan-based client.
Underneath, the SP51 shares its underpinnings with the Ferrari 812 GTS roadster, including its layout, chassis and atmospheric 6.5-litre V12 that revs all the way to 8500 RPM. Ferrari hasn’t released any performance figures just yet, but expect the SP51 to match closely with the 812 GTS it’s based upon.

For reference, the Ferrari 812 GTS sees its front,mid-mounted naturally-aspirated V12 supply it with no less than 789 HP and 718 NM of twist to the rear wheels. In turn, this grants said production roadster model the ability to dispatch 0-100 KMH in just 3.0 seconds whilst on its way towards a V-max well beyond 339 KMH too.
Setting it apart from any series production Ferrari, the SP51 has been given its own specific styling whilst still remaining recognisable as the V12-powered open-top supercar it’s based on. The biggest difference is of course the roof design, or lack thereof. Yes, this one-off is a permanent open-top roadster.

Much of the exterior sees the Ferrari Styling centre craft it all out of lightweight carbon fibre, which comes dressed in ‘Rosso Passionale’ paint and a unique Ferrari 458 Speciale-inspired blue-on-white striping. Other unique bits include specially designed headlights plus the diamond-cut wheels it rolls on.

As for the cabin, things are nearly identical to the 812 GTS base car here, albeit with a much more generous application of red Alcantara.
The call for no roof challenged engineers a little, prompting them to tune the aerodynamics as best as possible via vents at the front and rear helping to guide air and hunker down the car for increased downforce.

“Its bold styling captivates at first sight. However, it brilliantly retains the signature elegance of its inspiration, the 812 GTS, whilst pushing the boundaries by offering a whole new way of enjoying en plein air driving,” adds Ferrari.
Like other one-off creations in the past that it delivered, Ferrari did not provide details relating to this special commission's building cost and price. Of course, as the old saying goes: If you had to ask how much, then you can’t afford it…
