Kia has announced the 2023 Sorento Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) will be carrying a price tag approximately around RM 228k ($49,890).

The company decided to discontinue its entry-level PHEV SX, leaving only the SX-P (adds another RM 822 or $1,800 for the current price) as it costs roughly at RM 206 K ($45,190).

The new 2023 Kia Sorento PHEV receives a new feature, HomeLink that allows you to program the mirror to activate your garage door, gate, home lighting and more., although the news reported that it is supposed to be equipped for last year’s model.

Also onboard, the 2023 Sorento PHEV comprises a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch infotainment system with GPS navigation, as well as Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, once seated behind the heated leather steering wheel. A Bose audio system, a wireless smartphone charger, and a dual-zone automatic climate control system are among the other highlights.

Riding on 19-inch alloy wheels, the model is well-equipped with a GT-Line front bumper, LED lighting, rain-sensing wipers, retractable rear sunshades and a 115-volt inverter that can power your laptop to complete the package.

Under the hood, drivers will find a plug-in hybrid system with a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, an electric motor, and a 14-kWh battery pack providing power. This configuration provides the crossover with all-wheel drive and a combined output of 261 hp (195 kW / 265 PS) and 349 Nm (258 lb-ft).

From 0 to 100 km/h, you might need 8.7 seconds to reach 62 mph, as it can travel up to 32 km on electricity alone for 51 km. In terms of charging, a Level 2 charger could recharge the Sorento PHEV within 3.5 hours.

Moving inside, the front seats are perforated leather with heating and ventilation, as well as power adjustment on both sides. The model also has heated captain's chairs in the second row and a split-folding third row.

Safety aspects includes Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Highway Driving Assist, and Forward Collision Avoidance Assist with Junction Assist are among the driver assistance systems available. Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist, Rear Occupant Alert, and Safe Exit Assist are also available. High Beam Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, and Lane Following Assist round out the highlights.
