Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) has recently launched its first dedicated body repair and paint service facilities, Volvo Certified Damage Repair Centre (VCDR) at 2 locations Federal Auto Cars, Glenmarie and Sime Darby Swedish Auto, Ara Damansara. Through these VCDR Centres,  customers can now enjoy end-to-end high quality body repair and paint service for their Volvo’s.

Present at the launch was Head of Volvo Cars APEC, Nick Connor and Charles Frump, Managing Director of Volvo Cars. Nick Connor expressed the group's happiness at the rate VCM is moving forward in Malaysia from the implementation of global’s electrification strategy to selling out the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric and the launch of Volvo Car’s VCDR.

Malaysia would be the second country in this region to introduce VCDR with aims in enhancing customer’s after-sales experience by focusing on providing quick and efficient body repair and paint services. Best of all, repairs performed would be of higher quality as advanced tools and equipment would be used adhering to Volvo’s strict process standards.

Charles Frump, Managing Director of Volvo Car Malaysia added, “We want our customers to walk away with a Volvo car in complete peace of mind knowing that we are ready to provide them with Volvo’s international standard of care for their vehicles.'' He also expressed that by introducing VCDR within Volvo’s dealer network, it will enable customers to enjoy vehicles that provide them a lifelong lifespan.

Volvo’s global VCDR standard integrates the use of sustainable technology for their body and paint repair services. Furthermore the use of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) in its paint is now replaced with a water-based paint, reducing employee’s exposure to hazardous chemicals.

Both Federal Auto Cars Glenmarie and Sime Darby Motors Centralised Body and Paint Centre would be the first two Volvo service centres in Malaysia to be aligned with the VCDR standards equipped with the latest technology and trained technicians. These facilities, each measuring 11,133 square feet, would be able to handle up to a volume of 1,260 vehicles per year.

Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director of Retail and Distribution of Sime Darby Motors Malaysia commented: “We aim to continue delivering the best quality service and offerings to our customers. This includes ramping up the sustainability of our operations to minimise environmental impact, while maintaining service excellence. As such, we are pleased to adopt the VCDR standard for Volvo vehicles at our Sime Darby Motors Centralised Body and Paint facility, in line with our Environment, Social & Governance’s initiative to lower carbon transition, continuously invest in solutions and inspire meaningful change.”

"Being an integral part of the Volvo network in Malaysia, we are committed towards delivering excellent service quality and safe vehicles to our Volvo customers through our investments and continuous improvement of every aspect of our operations. In today's environment, we place as much if not more emphasis on climate sustainability in our business strategies and decisions. We, therefore, wholeheartedly embrace the entire VCDR concept for its environmentally friendly equipment, as well as efficient workflow and processes,” said Wong Fay Lee, Chairman of Federal Auto Holdings Berhad.
