All-New Hyundai Grandeur Unveiled – Hyundai’s 7th-Gen Flagship Sedan
So far, the 2020s has been a decade of throwbacks. From old movies and TV series getting a remake or unnecessary sequels to ageing pop stars headlining music festivals worldwide, the automobile world is definitely not exempted from this emerging trend.
Aside from electrified resto-mods on vintage cars, car manufacturers took the initiative to design their new models with a distinct homage to its iconic predecessors. And Hyundai is one of them.
Hyundai Motor has officially unveiled the brand-new 2023 Hyundai Grandeur – the 7th iteration of its flagship executive sedan. In line with Hyundai’s retro-futuristic approach spearheaded by the N Vision 74, this sedan’s design is the perfect mix of both past and future – presently available.
Being an E-segmented sedan, the Grandeur boasts an elongated body – playing roles in both practicality and styling. It features several sharp angles such as on its slanting C-pillars and shoulder lines going lengthwise, but with some rounded edges for better aerodynamics.
The Staria-like Seamless Horizon Lamp headlights goes along the car’s width to accentuate wideness to an otherwise elongated, slender sedan. Huge glossy jewel grille complements said headlights in keeping the balance between nostalgia and futuristic.
On the back, the same Seamless Horizon Lamp also features as its taillights, with the roofline going all the way back to the rear trunk – akin to its electrified counterpart, the Ioniq 6. The taillights’ ends are being diagonally cut across to add a more sharp, angular look of its predecessors.
Completing the side profile is a set of 20-inch multi spoke wheels that blend well with the car’s limousine-like look.
Inside the Grandeur’s cabin lies a streamlined dashboard design that houses the wide digital instrument cluster and infotainment display – situated above the elongated air conditioner vents. Climate control switches are now replaced with another touch screen display, situated beneath said vents.
The steering wheel’s design features a thick centre piece to pay homage to the older Grandeur models. Featuring multiple controls on its side, the steering also now houses the car’s gear switch to provide cleaner middle console space to the front part.
Nappa leather and wood finishing are some of the premium yet sustainable materials used in furnishing this luxurious, clean interior. Antibacterial Nappa leather upholstery wraps around all the Grandeur’s seats. Thanks to the longer wheelbase, the interior boasts huge legroom, enough to make the rear seats electronically recline-able.
On the performance side, this executive car is offered with four engine options – a hybrid 1.6 L 4-cyl turbo, a 2.5 L 4-cyl petrol and a 3.5 L V6 in both petrol or NGV options. Other specific details on performance spec are yet to be officially disclosed.
The all-new Grandeur will be launched by the end of this year in Korea, with 60,000 pre-orders already being taken. For the international market, the Grandeur will be rebadged as Hyundai Azera. No official announcement was made on its availability for the international market, as for now.
