BYD e6 Taxi Displayed At IGEM 2022, Expected To Begin Operation In November

The International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia (IGEM) 2022 officially opened its doors to the public today. The exhibition features about 300 exhibitors showcasing their eco-friendly and sustainable offerings inline with the nations goal towards achieving the 2030 Sustainable Development. The event was officiated by Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Seri Ir.Dr. Zaini Ujang, Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment and Water.
One of the exhibitors at IGEM 2022 exhibiting their sustainable future public mobility is Mysuri Biz Technologies showcasing the latest BYD e6 in the taxi livery similar to the MG 5 EV showcased in September. It is also good to note that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Yaakob announced back in August that 1,000 EV taxis will be made available through a collaboration between Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and Mysuri Biz Technologies Sdn Bhd in November 2022 to support Malaysia's Go Green efforts.

The BYD e6 taxi would be a small part of the 1000 taxis that Mysuri plans to put out in Malaysia procured through Sime Darby which recently took up the Malaysian distributorship of the brand. Sime Darby is also the BYD distributor in Singapore where ComfortDelGro procured 100 units of the BYD e6 for taxi usage in the island nation.
The BYD e6 specification features a Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with 71.7 kWh capacity, pushing the front electric motor. The power rating that the e6 delivers is a respectable 94 BHP, 180 Nm Torque with a top speed rating of 130 KM/H. With a full charge, the e6 is said to deliver a WLTP rated range of 450KM. More important for taxi usage would be the charging time which the BYD e6 fairs quite well, delivering a quick DC charge time of 90-minutes at 60kW. Should you opt for the slower AC charge (Type2), it would take about 108-minutes at 40kW.

It is also good to point out that besides the TNB charging network agreement, Mysuri in their website also listed charging infrastructure development which we assume would be the next phase for the future public EV mobility provider. To add on Mysuri Biz Technologies CEO Mohd Noor Ghazali had announced before that bulk of their charging facility, 80% would be of the 22kW AC type while the rest the faster 60kW DC. These chargers would be strategically placed throughout key areas around Klang Valley, Johor and Penang.
At the moment Mysuri, through its partner Koperasi Jurupandu TeksiKu Cooperative, is calling out to all interested taxi drivers who are looking to make a switch to sign up to an exclusive partnership leasing agreement. The leasing module would be based on the lease-to-own concept. However to qualify, they would have to first join as an Coop member with a payment of RM20 and subscribe to a minimum share of RM250 in the Coop.
