Etiqa Introduces Coverage Plans for Home EV Chargers – First in Malaysia!

Aside from lucrative tax exemptions, free road tax and multiple other incentives provided by the government, motor insurance providers such as Etiqa also joined the crusade of enticing motorists nationwide to go full electric.
Etiqa Insurance, a subsidiary of Maybank Group, is poised to become Malaysia’s first insurance provider that offers coverage plans for home EV chargers.
Offered in both Takaful and Conventional insurance plans, the Etiqa EV Home Charger coverage is an add-on option on top of its private motor insurance plan – applicable for both full-EVs and PHEVs.

Both the Etiqa EV Home Charger Takaful and insurance coverage offers up to RM12,000 worth of imbursements to either repair or replace your home EV chargers. Said coverage is available for loss or damage of home EV chargers due to:
- Theft
- Fire
- Flood
- Lightning
- Explosion
- Natural Disasters such as Hurricane, Typhoon, Windstorm, Earthquake
- Aircraft or Aerial Device or Articles dropped therefrom
- Impact Damage by Road Vehicles
- Burst or Overflowing Water Tanks, Apparatus or Pipes
Newly-registered or a maximum one-year old privately-owned EVs and PHEVs with home chargers are eligible for this add-on. Bad news for Malaysian Tesla owners, as this plan is not applicable for reconditioned vehicles.

The coverage for home EV charger under this plan will be active for the entire 1-year tenure as your motor insurance policy. Reimbursements can be claimed only once during the entire coverage tenure.
A limited-time free offer for newly-registered EVs and PHEVs begins from Oct 1, 2022 until March 31, 2023. For additional information on the Etiqa EV Home Charger coverage, kindly visit Etiqa’s official website or contact your nearest Maybank branch.
