Flood - Monsoon Transition Phase Begins 3rd October 2022

MET Malaysia announced on 29th September, that there will be a Monsoon Transition Phase happening beginning 3rd October 2022. This phase basically indicated the end of the Southwest Monsoon season which began on 14th May 2022.
According to the MET Malaysia Director Muhammad Helmi, the entire country will experience weak winds from all directions which would highly result in the occurrence of thunderstorms and heavy rain. The MET Department anticipated the thunderstorms to occur in the evening and early nights in most west coast and rural states in Peninsular, west Sabah and central Sarawak.
The combination of this occurrence would highly result in flash floods and damages to weak structures in the affected areas. Those living in the areas are advised to be more cautious and vigilant to announcements made by the MET Department.
People can follow the weather updates by MET Malaysia via their official website, mobile app (myCuaca) and their social media platform. The public can also reach out to them directly at 1-300-22-1638 for any related enquiries.
