Honda City Owner Nabbed For Avoiding Toll Amounting To RM256.20
Just when you think you can game the system always, the system strikes back. Well in this case it was Prolintas enforcement officers at the Kajang SILK Highway route where they nabbed a driver of a white Honda City who had been successfully evading toll payment at the tune of RM256.20 inclusive of administrative charges.
According to Prolintas Kajang SILK’s tweet, the abovementioned driver was able to make the payment in full immediately. This goes to show that it's not that these offenders do not have money to pay for toll usage, but more likely they are in it for the trills.
Similar case was highlighted last month when a Proton X50 driver was nabbed at the Ampang–Kuala Lumpur Elevated Highway (AKLEH). This included a Proton X50 with unpaid toll arrears of RM57.50 which was also settled in full immediately.
As we highlighted before, up to now all toll related offences are under the purview of the Federal Roads (Private Management) Act 1984, Section 8 which carries a penalty between RM2,000 and RM5,000 upon conviction. This however since this is a non criminal offence which requires a toll concessionaire to take a costly civil action suit.
Well in view of the Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) system to be potentially implementation in 2025, its is high time the law on toll evasion is relooked at as there would be alot more such cases happening on a daily basis.
