PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) expressed its interest in developing a new Toyota Vios powered by mild-hybrid system (MHEV) as speculated.

After the latest 2023 Toyota Vios Hybrid petrol engine debut recently, PT Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) expressed its interest in developing a new Vios Hybrid model which the details have not yet been released.

Despite buyers' preference for 7-seaters and hatchbacks over sedans, the all-new was unveiled in Indonesia last week, ahead of Malaysia. That launch, however, was not the end of the fourth-generation Vios' story in the archipelago.

The car marque claims that research has been conducted to bring more hybrid models into Indonesia begins with Vios Hybrid which aligns with the nation’s goal in bolstering its electrification goals.

Details about this new hybrid Toyota Vios are scarce at the moment, however, given that the Vios is positioned as a budget model in Toyota's lineup, there’s a possibility the new Vios Hybrid to be built on the DNGA platform which is less expensive and simpler version of Toyota's TNGA.

The next-generation Toyota Vios Hybrid or its codename D92A shall begin its production next year in August 2023, as reported by AutoIndustriya.
