Toyota plans to shift its EV Policy, Hybrid Vehicles as full EVs line-up?

Japanese car maker, Toyota has another ‘idea’ when it comes to its next EV line-up strategy. Due to the steadfast proliferation of EVs in the market, it may not be feasible looking at the current market as well as infrastructure constraints.

This is because the company intends to convince the world of its EV rollout strategy that requires them to market its hybrid powered vehicles as Toyota’s full EVs product. More to that, it will not only be cost effective but also a more sustainability approach, claims Toyota.

Reason being includes the car maker’s concern of limited rare-earth resource supplies for batteries, to establish new manufacturing centres, market costs and ensure a charging network to support millions of new EVs which could all undercut many automakers' announced plans to rapidly accelerate their own EV development.

Added on to that, Reuters reported that Toyota is also aware of prohibition from the sale of combustion-powered vehicles by 2035 in few U.S. states. Even so, the arguments do not seem to be accepted by the industry hence Toyota changed its electrification plans.

On a different note, Toyota has halted work on some of the 30 EV projects announced in December, including the Toyota Compact Cruiser crossover and the battery-electric Crown.

The first EV based on e-TNGA, the bZ4X crossover, hit the market earlier this year, despite a recall that forced Toyota to delay its release.

After all, Toyota will continue to research and develop hydrogen-powered powertrains although the transition plans could slow down the rollout of EVs, yet pros would likely to open a door for Toyota tin competing with more robust manufacturing process, as industry-wide EV sales run past Toyota's earlier projections.

Reuters added that any changes to Toyota's EV strategy based on this analysis will be announced by early next year.
