A continuous success, the Volkswagen Group’s sales of all-electric vehicles have shown a 25% growth in the first nine months year-on-year.

Outstandingly, 366,400 battery-electric vehicles (BEV) have been delivered until the end of September, up from 293,000 in the prior-year period.

The BEV share of total deliveries climbed to 6.0% in that timeframe, an increase from 4.2% in the same period of 2021.

Specifically, on a regional basis, Europe’s BEV sales remained in the lead with 211,900, covering 58% of the Group total in the first nine months.

Second biggest BEV market, China with 112,700, accumulated 31% of the Group total, more than twice as many as at the end of quarter three of 2021.

Then, the United States corresponded to 8% of the Group’s worldwide BEV deliveries with 28,900 units.

Brand-wise, by the end of September, the Volkswagen brand delivered 207,200 BEVs, summing up 57% of the Group total.

Followed by Audi with 77,000 (21%), ŠKODA with 36,900 (10%), Porsche with 25,100 (7%), and SEAT/CUPRA with 17,600 (5%).

Top-selling models in the first nine months were the VW ID.4/ID.5 (122,600), ID.3 (45,500), ŠKODA Enyaq iV (36,900), Audi e-tron (36,400), Q4 e-tron (29,700), ID.6 (27.500), Porsche Taycan (25,100) and CUPRA Born (17,500).

Volkswagen’s extended executive committee member, Hildegard Wortmann, concluded, “Customers love our brands’ all-electric model range which is the broadest in the industry. Due to the strong demand and ongoing supply constraints, our order bank remains on a high level. Still, we reached a BEV share of 6.8% in Q3, the highest so far this year.”
