Porsche Charts Historic Three-Peat Win at 2026 Daytona 24 Hours

The 2026 Daytona 24 Hours endurance race sees Porsche charting a historic three-peat win with the #7 963 hypercar.
It appears that Porsche’s decision to discontinue its World Endurance Championship (WEC) hypercar programme to focus solely on the IMSA SportsCar Championship has borne fruit, as the German automaker clinched a historic three-peat win at this year’s 24 Hours of Daytona endurance race.

In the hands of the factory-backed Porsche Penske Racing team with the #7 Porsche 963 hypercar, Porsche has claimed the overall win at Daytona Beach three years in a row, and this victory is made sweeter as it coincides with both the 75th anniversary of Porsche Motorsport and the 60th anniversary of Team Penske.

Drivers Julien Andlauer (left), Laurin Heinrich (centre), and Felipe Nasr (right) clinched the overall win at 2026 Daytona 24 Hours with the #7 Porsche Penske 963 hypercar.
In charge of piloting the 963 across the finish line was a trio of drivers consisting of Frenchman Julien Andlauer, Porsche Carrera Cup Germany alum Laurin Heinrich, and three-time IMSA champion Felipe Nasr—the latter was also part of Porsche’s previous two triumphs at Daytona.

Nasr, who was tasked with the final stint of the race, came under pressure from runner-up Cadillac Whelen, with British driver Jack Aitken breathing down the Brazilian’s neck in his #31 Cadillac V-Series.R hypercar. After some gruelling battle, the #7 Porsche crossed the finish line 1.569 seconds ahead of the American outfit to clinch the title.
Taking the final spot at the podium was BMW M Team WRT, as Belgian racer Dries Vanthoor wheeled the #24 BMW M Hybrid V8 hypercar a few seconds behind the Cadillac. The second Porsche hypercar just missed the podium spot at fourth position, as the #6 Porsche 963 from Porsche Penske trailed roughly ten seconds behind the Bimmer.

Commenting on this historic Daytona win, Team Penske owner Roger Penske said, "Winning the 24 Hours of Daytona three consecutive times with this Porsche Penske Motorsport team is an incredible accomplishment. Our success at this event helped put our team on the map over six decades ago, and winning here in Daytona is a perfect way to celebrate the start of Team Penske’s 60th anniversary season."
"Today’s victory reflects the efforts and dedication of all those committed men and women working on the Porsche Penske Motorsport program, from Mooresville to Germany,” he continued.

On a broader scale, this three-peat victory at Daytona Beach is the result of Porsche’s rooted focus on motorsport, and that is despite the recent decline in its sales performance, with the Stuttgart-based automaker reporting a decline of about 10% in sales volume for 2025 (279,449 units) compared to the previous year (310,718 units).
