Ahead of the upcoming General Elections (GE15) taking place later this week, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has declared both Nov 18 and 19 as official public holidays On top of which, he also announced that there will be no toll charges on both days too.

To be more specific, the PM highlighted that the toll charges waiver applies only for travellers in private vehicles. Additionally, this waiver applies on highways operated by 30 concessionaires starting from 12:01AM on Nov 18 until 11:59PM on Nov 19.

The announcement and declaration came earlier this afternoon, with the PM noting the extra public holiday stemming from the fact certain private sector companies were still operating on Saturday, hence some employees may be unable to cast their votes as a result.

“We want to make sure Malaysians can exercise their rights as clearly stipulated in the Federal Constitution. No one can prevent a citizen from exercising their right to vote,” said the PM during the announcement made earlier this afternoon during a ground breaking ceremony at the Cuepacs headquarters.

In light of this, we highly recommend all motorists to plan their travel accordingly with the toll waiver window and their respective recommended voting times.
