Hyundai And OIKN, Advanced Air Mobility For Indonesia

An agreement achieved, Hyundai Motor Group (the Group) and Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN) to establish an Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) ecosystem in Indonesia.
The ecosystem will be in Indonesia’s new capital city, and will start with a demonstration project and test flights by the Group via the concept of combined mobility for ground and air.
OIKN’s head, Bambang Susantono, expressed, “Implementing advanced air mobility in Nusantara is in line with OIKN’s spirit of being a ‘living laboratory’ in Indonesia, open to creating a culture of new learning, working and lifestyle. We value Hyundai Motor Group’s cooperation in developing Nusantara as a smart and sustainable city.”

Notably, the Group aims to improve the country’s mobility by efficiently building an AAM ecosystem that utilizes Indonesia’s high-level aviation infrastructure and technological capabilities.
Moving forward, it also plans to build a global AAM ecosystem beyond the SEA region based on its achievements in Indonesia.
Hyundai Motor Group’s president and head for advanced air mobility division, Jaiwon Shin, said, “The vision of implementing AAM is to create a safe, accessible, automated and affordable air transportation system. It is for a better future, so that future generations can have a better quality of life. Our cooperation with the Indonesian government is the embodiment of Hyundai Motor Group’s commitment to bring the vision to life, to contribute to a better future for Indonesia.”

That said, Indonesia, which is the largest aviation market in Southeast Asia, consists of more than 18,000 islands, making it difficult to develop land transportation.
Hence, this agreement will see both entities proactively introduce a smart mobility ecosystem in the process of relocating the capital.
