North-South Expressway will be temporarily closed tomorrow from 10am to 2pm
To all highway users who are planning to travel tomorrow on Wednesday November 30, do plan your journey as PLUS announces that there will be a temporary closure of NSE’s Ipoh Utara-Selatan stretch between 10am and 2.30pm to construct a highway Emergency Response Exercise.
During the closure, southbound highway drivers from the north/Kuala Kangsar will be routed to the Ipoh Utara Toll Plaza and advisable to take the FT240 Jelapang-Ampang slip road. Highway travellers travelling south should re-enter the NSE through the Ipoh Selatan Toll Plaza.
According to the Chief Operating Officer of PLUS, Datuk Zakaria Ahmad Zabidi, “Safety of highway users is always our top priority. Therefore, emergency response exercises are conducted from time to time to measure and evaluate the level of preparedness of PLUS personnel and other agencies to ensure the safety of highway users is in good hands.”
Aside that, the Emergency Response Exercise will also involve various agencies such as the Malaysian Highway Authority, the Police, Road Transport Department, Fire and Rescue Department, Department of Environment, Civil Defence, MERS 999, National Security Council, Ministry of Health of Malaysia, MIROS, Edgenta Infrastructure Services (EIS) and many more.
Just so you know, the Emergency Response Exercise aims at gauging the readiness and response by PLUS, emergency teams and related agencies in managing emergency situations on the highway.
All highway users are advised to obey all traffic signages and instructions given by PLUS personnel throughout the exercise. For more traffic information or assistance during emergencies, highway users can contact PLUSLINE at 1800-88-0000 or click here.
