Rimac Nevera Crowned as World’s Fastest Production EV!
Electric vehicles are renowned for their quick acceleration and instant throttle responses. In fact, the current record for the world’s fastest accelerating production car is currently held by one. Now, the same car has claimed yet another record, this time as the World’s Fastest Production Electric Vehicle (EV).

Claiming this crown is the Rimac Nevera hypercar which, thanks to its 1,887 HP quad-motor setup, recently hit an unbelievable top speed of 412 KM/H – or a third of the speed of sound *(Mach 1).

Driven by Rimac’s chief test driver, Miro Zrnčević, the Nevera achieved said milestone at the famous Automotive Testing Papenburg track in Germany. Known for its 4 KM straights on each side, the Papenburg oval track serves as a perfect backdrop for car manufacturers to test any car’s V-max.

Making this record run possible, Rimac had set the Nevera into its ‘Top Speed’ mode, which essentially creates an entirely different aerodynamic profile that balances drag and downforce to ensure high speed stability. Serving the Nevera’s only contact with the Papenburg asphalt is a set of Michelin Cup 2R tyres – a standard in modern hypercars nowadays.
As mentioned, the Nevera also holds the record as the fastest-accelerating production car in the world too thanks to its ability to dispatch 0-100 KM/H in just 1.95 seconds. This, in turn, sees the Nevera complete a quarter-mile run in a blistering 8.582 seconds too.

The road-legal Nevera that customers can buy right now has a capped top speed of just 352 KM/H. Fortunately, Rimac said customers can opt to remove this limiter, albeit through special adjustments in controlled conditions during special Rimac-supported events only. In other words, owners need only give Rimac a heads up should they be in the mood to experience a third of the speed of sound.

Whilst the Nevera’s 412 KM/H attempt is indeed impressive, it still hasn’t eclipsed some of its petrol-powered adversaries. Amongst them is sister brand Bugatti and its Chiron Super Sport 300+ which hit an unbelievable 490.48 KM/H (304.773 MPH) back in 2019.
