The Forthcoming Electric Raging Bull, An Insight From Lamborghini
The date has been set. Lamborghini’s first production EV is slated to debut in 2028, and apparently, it will not be ousting any of the current models.
According to Chief Executive Officer Stephan Winkleman who told Auto Express, the new raging bull EV will be a fourth model and more of a daily driver.
Additionally, he also hinted that its build will benefit from the Volkswagen Group’s current development of its Scalable Systems Platform (SSP) architecture.
“The fourth model will be more daily usable. This means a 2+2, two-door car with more ground clearance. Its build will also benefit from the synergies of the Volkswagen Group like we already had with the Urus,” he said.
What’s more, Chief Technical Officer, Rouven Mohr also told Auto Express that the electric bull’s all-electric propulsion has many other advantages as well.
He explained, "Some of our core pillars from the technology point of view are fitting perfectly with the electric world. If we speak about carbon fibre function integration, battery integration as a structural part, this is something that allows you much more degrees of freedom from the design perspective in the sense of aerodynamics."
Plus, according to him, as with this kind of architecture, weight is one of the many issues involved. However, all of it has been accounted for.
“We have some cool ideas to compensate for this, for instance regarding the driving dynamics, the control, the drift ability, and the driving behaviour in general. A 360-degree approach combining all the active systems to enable wheel speed control, which is not possible with a standard combustion engine,” he concluded.
Elsewhere, Lamborghini is currently investing EUR 1.5 billion (MYR 7,077,542,850) on a four-year plan, in line with its electrification strategy to electrify the entire line-up by 2024.
Of which, will see the production of a hybrid Aventador in early 2023, a plug-in hybrid Huracan in late 2024, and a plug-in hybrid Urus Super SUV sometime the same year.
