The Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV Launched In Malaysia, Priced At MYR 699,888

The all-new Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, the latest addition to the company’s all-electric EQ portfolio, officially launched in Malaysia.
Fully-imported (CBU), the sole variant offered, EQS 580 4MATIC, is priced at MYR 699,888, on-the-road, without insurance, and with 10% sales tax (SST).
Weighing in at 2,810 KG, the e-SUV is the third model built on the Electric Vehicle Architecture (EVA) platform, akin to the EQS and EQE sedans.

Fused as its electric drivetrain (eATS) is a dual-motor setup, front- and rear-mounted, producing 544 HP/400 KW and 858 NM of torque.
Working with this is the 4MATIC All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system, featuring a Torque Shift function and rear-axle steering.
Juicing-up the e-motors is a floor-mounted Lithium-Ion battery with 12 cell modules and an energy capacity of 108.4 KWH.
This provides up to 615 KM of driving range (WLTP). Its acceleration from 0 to 100 KM/H is done in 4.6 seconds and the top speed is 210 KM/H.
An EQ’s first, installed is a 22 KW AC charger, enabling a 0% to 100% State of Charge (SoC) in five and a half hours. Also, a 200 KW DC charger is available, with a 10% to 80% SoC in 31 minutes.

Elsewhere, propping it up is a four-link axle at the front and a multi-link suspension at the rear, incorporating the Airmatic air suspension with continuously adjustable damping ADS+.
Notably, its ground clearance is 25 MM raisable at speeds of up to 80 KM/H. Whereas, in Comfort and Sport modes, it is automatically lowered by 10 MM and 15 MM, respectively.
Aiding the drive is the DYNAMIC SELECT drive modes, featuring ECO, COMFORT, SPORT, INDIVIDUAL and OFFROAD.



In terms of the exterior, it has the typical EQ styling. An overall seamless design, with smooth and clean surfaces.
Fitted at the front is a bonnet with the Merc’s Power domes and a ‘Black Panel’ unit, featuring Digital Light LED headlamps with a light band placed atop a deep black closed-off grille.
Courtesy of the AMG Line Exterior treatment, it gets an aggressive-styled bumper with larger side and lower intakes, and accentuating black trimmings.


Side profile is made up of muscular quarter panels, 3D chrome stripped window trims, and a set of 22-Inch AMG multi-spoke light-alloys, finished in high-gloss black with a high-sheen finish.
The rear sees a slightly sloping all-black roofline, and a rounded-tailgate flowing into the bumper. Of which has a chrome diffuser and a spoiler lip.
Unique is the tail lamp setup. In a lightbar design, it has 3D helix light graphics, complementing the headlamps’ three-hexagonal-shaped LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL).

Other equipment are flush, retractable door handles, illuminated running boards with rubber studs, and a panoramic glass roof.
As for the interior, it sees a futuristic cockpit, adorned with the AMG Line Interior, and the Electric Art Line Interior treatments.
Matched with Black fabric headliner and Velour floor mats, the upholstery is in Black/Space Grey Nappa leather, accentuated by brown open-pore magnolia wood trim elements.




Commanding the dashboard is the single pane 56-Inch Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) Hyperscreen. Three units, driver, centre and passenger.
It comprises a 12.3-Inch LCD digital multi-function instrument cluster with a head-up display, a 17.7-Inch centre infotainment, and a 12.3-Inch passenger OLED display.
Plus, it also has the MBUX High-End rear entertainment system, featuring two 11.6-Inch screens, an MBUX tablet, and two wireless headsets.
Entertainment is channelled through a 15-speaker setup of the Dolby Atmos Burmester surround sound system.
Seating is in a seven-seat layout (2-3-2 configuration). Equipped are Comfort Seats with electronic adjustments, multi-contour, luxury head restraints, seat climate control and memory functions.




Other features are Keyless-Go Comfort package, Easy-Pack tailgate, Thermotronic automatic climate control, Ambient Lighting Plus, multi-function steering wheel, and a wireless charger.
Aside from its all-encompassing airbags, it comes with a suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The Driving Assistant Package Plus and Parking Package.
The former includes Distronic Plus, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Steering Assist, Evasive manoeuvre support, Pre-Safe Impulse Side and rear sensors for the lane departure assistant.
Meanwhile, the latter provides a 360-degree camera, a transparent bonnet (ground view), and Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC.
