From JDM to American Muscle - Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Has It All

The trailer for the seventh instalment of the highly popular and iconic live action movie Transformers was just released hours ago titled ‘Rise of the Beasts’, and as car guys we were just awed by the vehicles that would be featured in this movie. This time around, this movie would be directed by Steven Caple Jr. with Michael Bay overseeing production and providing inputs when needed.

This time around the story was shot mostly on location in Peru with more of a plains setting instead of the city setting giving more of a Transformers G1 vibe and surely giving the characters more freedom to utilise the entirety of the surroundings to make them shine.

As we can see in the teaser trailer, the vehicles in the hero fronts are a mix of old and new, with the key attraction being the Porsche 964 depicting the character Mirage. We are able to finally see the full transformation sequence of Mirage and damn we were hooked to her character hoping for more. Another representation from the Germans in this movie is the Volkswagen Bus for the character Wheeljack instead of a Mercedes.

Now the other crowd favourite, Bumblebee will remain as a Chevrolet Camaro but souped up to portray a off-road safari monster sporting beefier mud tires filling the jacked-up fender gaps. The Camaro is also treated to aggressive looking bash bars all around including an external skeleton like structure surrounding the front windscreen.

The other key member of the Autobots is the supreme leader Optimus Prime which is as before a shortnose cabover truck in red, white and blue and not forgetting Arcee who would be the sole motorcycle in the franchise in the form of a Ducati 916.

Now on the villain side of things, the Terrorcons, JDM fans are getting represented by the Nissan R33 GT-R as Nightbird. Yes we know it is the most hated GT-R for many, nicknamed “the boat” but it fits the Nightbird character so well donned in grey with copper and purple highlights with a custom bodykit and big rear wing that should belong in the “Fast & Furious” movie franchise. The other member of Terrorcons is Scourge represented by black MAC truck and an orange GMC tow truck.

This seventh franchise of the Transformers series is proving so far to be quite a beast with cars representing all walks of fans from muscle to JDM and we cannot wait to see more teasers building up to the movie screening in June 2023.
