Honda EV N-VAN, A RM33,000 Mini Van Perfect For You Daily City Use
Honda will launch a new light commercial EV (electric vehicle) by the 2nd Quarter of 2024 based on Honda's light van "N-VAN", which has been well received as a car that meets a wide range of needs from commercial to hobby. This is part of Honda’s 30 EV models it plans to roll out by 2030 to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
The Honda N-VAN is an integral part of Honda’s product offering in Japan as minicars (kei-cars) are an indispensable part of people's lives, hence it is prioritised for EV adoption. Furthermore there is a high demand for commercial vehicle electrification which Honda plans to capitalise upon.
The internal combustion engine (ICE) N-Van, which this light commercial EV is based on, has steadily built up quite a track record and following since its launch in 2018. The N-VAN features a large-capacity luggage space, an easy-to-use luggage space made even more practical by eliminating the centre pillar on the passenger side.
The EV N-VAN will carry forward its ICE counterparts' ease of use, but offer even more comfort with its near silent operation and powerful acceleration perfect for heavy traffic environments with frequent stop-and-go’s.
The EV N-Van, while targeted for mainly commercial use such as last-mile deliveries in the city landscape, will fit perfectly into the average lifestyle of individual Japanese users based on its flexibility and customization potential alone.
This is solidified further with its 200KM driving range perfect for city use be it commercial, shopping, daily commute to work or school, or just simply a mode of transport for hobbyists. With a targeted selling price of RM33,000 (1,000,000 YEN), similar to its ICE counterparts the EV N-VAN is very much attainable by everyone in the market for a vehicle like this. This also will make EV ownership much affordable and help realise Honda’s carbon neutrality goal.
Now, how we wish offerings like this would make its way into the Malaysian market through official local distributors. This will surely help spur the growth in EV adoption especially in the B40 category who thus far has no offering aimed towards them.
