Starting this month, Japanese automaker Mazda will reportedly offer a 6-year or 150,000 KM (whichever comes first) warranty coverage on new vehicles sold in 28 select markets across Europe. Mazda launched this extended warranty program last year starting in both Germany and neighboring Austria first.
Other markets that followed suit included Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Republic of Ireland, Kosovo, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, and Slovenia in September 2022.
More recently, this extended warranty program by the Japanese brand expanded into three more markets, those being France, Switzerland, and Italy.
Up to 28 select markets in Europe sees Mazda offer customers a 6-year or 150,000 KM warranty coverage.
As expected, the warranty covers all material and manufacturing defects, as well as the costs of repairing or replacing affected components. According to Mazda, it hopes this extended warranty will aid it to “maintain customer loyalty by further enhancing the lifecycle ownership experience across Europe.”
Adding to which, the Japanese automaker argues that its European customers now benefit from one of the most comprehensive warranty packages ever offered in the industry, promising greater peace of mind, as well as increasing the value of the vehicle should customers opt to sell it within the warranty period.
Mazda's European customers also get a 12-year anti-perforation and 3-year paint and surface corrosion warranty.
In addition to the 6-year or 150,000 KM warranty coverage, Mazda also offers European customers a 12-year anti-perforation plus a 3-year paint and surface corrosion warranty. Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models, on the other hand, get an 8-year or 160,000 KM coverage instead.
In contrast, Mazda customers in Malaysia benefit with a 5+5 after-sales coverage from Bermaz Auto.
Malaysian Mazda owners enjoy a 5-year or 100,000 KM warranty plus a 5-year or 100,000 KM free service deal.
In contrast, the Japanese brand offers a 5-year or 100,000 KM warranty coverage instead here in Malaysia. Though it is 1-year and 50,000 KM less than what’s offered in said European markets, perhaps the inclusion of 5-year or 100,000 KM free maintenance by local custodians Bermaz Auto offsets the difference.
Similarly, Mazda also offers a 5-year warranty for its customers in Australia, but this comes with an unlimited-mileage clause instead.
Perhaps Mazda customers in North America arguably gets the least after-sales coverage of them all from the brand. Here, Mazda customers only benefit with a standard 3-year or 36,000-mile (57,936-KM) ‘bumper-to-bumper’ warranty.
Presently, Mazda shows no signs of offering the 6-year or 150,000 KM warranty coverage into other markets, but what say you, folks? Is Bermaz Auto’s current warranty and free maintenance combination convincing enough? Especially after its recent alleged product price adjustment?
