2024 Polestar 2 Get Increased Power And New Design Tweaks

Swedish e-luxury marquee Polestar unveiled a subtly revised version of its Tesla Model 3-rivalling Polestar 2 for the 2024 model year.

In terms of styling, the body-coloured grille, which debuted in the Polestar 3 and now goes by the name "SmartZone," is the primary area of change on the exterior. This is also where the majority of the ADAS sensors are housed.

Apart from that, the rest of its bodywork is maintained, and the alloy wheels receive new designs. Although the company makes no mention of interior upgrades, all trims come standard with more ADAS features and wireless phone charging.

Adding on to that, the goodies include a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, auto-dimming door mirrors, LED fog lamps with cornering assistance, and others.

Underneath, the revised model receives peppier new electric motors, a switch to rear-wheel drive (RWD) setup for the single-motor variants, and a new battery. The latter translates to up to 483 KM of EPA-estimated range for the US-spec equivalent, or 635 KM of WLTP-estimated range for the EU-spec single-motor long-range trim.

As the base model is now powered by its rear wheels unlike the outgoing front-wheel-drive (FWD) entry-level variant, the 2024 Polestar 2 also becomes the first model from the brand to be available with a RWD setup.

As opposed to the previous base model's 231HP and 329 NM figures, this RWD model's maximum power is rated at 299HP and 489NM. Also, the model takes 5.9 seconds to accelerate from a standstill to 96 KM/H.

With a battery capacity of 82 kWh being installed on the long-range model, it enables an anticipated EPA range of up to 300 miles (approx. 483 KM).

Additionally, the maximum charging speed has increased to 205 kW. With both the improved power delivery and the long-range version's front motor disconnect feature, all versions of the 2024 Polestar 2 experience increased range.

There’s also an optional Performance Pack that boosts the combined output of 469HP, just like the restricted BST Edition, and reduces the time it takes to accelerate from 0 to 100 KM/H to 4.2 seconds.

On the long-range dual-motor trims, the power boost is also available as an over-the-air (OTA) software upgrade, according to Polestar. The Performance Pack also includes unique 20-inch forged alloy wheels, Brembo brakes, and a set of Öhlins Dual Flow Valve dampers for the extra juice.

With the first deliveries anticipated in the third quarter of 2023, the 2024 Polestar 2 is already on the market in Europe. The standard-range RWD model costs RM232,310.35 (€50,190) and the flagship long-range AWD with the Performance Pack costs RM299,425.31 (€64,690).

In the near future, additional markets like the US, Australia, and the UK will follow. Since its launch in 2019, the Polestar 2 has sold more than 100,000 units in 27 markets.
