Chery Tiggo 9 To Go On Sale In May 2023, Will It Be Sold In Malaysia?
-full_normal.jpg)
The flagship Chery Tiggo 9 is expected to go on sale in China this coming May and is offered in a seven seater configuration.
The Chery Tiggo 9 would be built on the M3X platform which was developed ground-up to be able to be configured into any design be it SUV, sedan or MPV. It is also able to accept various power configurations ranging from PHEV, ICE, and REEV (range-extended electric vehicles).
Being the flagship, the Tiggo 9 will command a position above the Tiggo 8 measuring 4820 mm in length, 1930 mm wide and 1699 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2820mm.

From the outlook it is noticeable that this is quite a large vehicle sporting a high waistline, black pillars, a floating roof design and a short front overhang. The front is dominated by a massive polygonal designed grille that adopts a polygonal design style and a striking illuminated Chery logo. It also sports a pair of sharp, slender LED headlights with built-in daytime running lights.
The Chery Tiggo 9 doors come built-in with integrated pop-out door handles giving it a sleek and flushed side design language. Also present are the large panoramic sunroof and an option of either 19 or 20-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels.

In terms of power-plant, it is announced by Chery that the Tiggo 9 will be offered with a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine pushing out 254 hp mated with a eight-speed automatic transmission. There are no torque figures announced just yet, but the Tiggo 9 would top out at a decent 205 km/h. It will be offered in both front wheel drive and four-wheel drive configuration depending on the spec and trim chosen.

There were no interior images or details released so far, however from the spy shots taken of CarNewsChina, we are able to roughly see two curved LCD screens measuring 12.3-inches used for the instrument and infotainment system. There would also be a two phone wireless charging pad and a modern designed flat-bottom three spoke steering wheel.

For now, there is no clear indication on the price and if it would be offered outside of China, however based on Chery’s ambitious plans for 2023 and beyond we can say there are high chances of it happening even in right hand drive configuration for other Asian countries including Malaysia.
