Editor’s Note: January 2023 – New Year, New Beginnings
Greetings, readers!
I write this first entry to our new Editor’s Note series as the CariCarz.com Editorial Team concludes our first full day in office for the new year that is 2023. Indeed, there’s much for you, our loyal readers and followers, to look forward to this month. But first, I believe a quick introduction is due.
As a Content team, we’re relatively young at just over 2 years old, and we’re neither small nor huge in size either. In fact, there are 8 of us that make up our Team. Nevertheless, we aim to do our best in delivering and conveying all the automotive news and content that you crave for daily – even on weekends and public holidays.
For the last six months at least, we’ve quietly begun a push at revamping our editorial content in terms of style and quality, with the latter being a never-ending personal quest of mine as Senior Editor. Of course, there’s only so much I can do, so I urge any and all of you to hit the comment sections with feedback across all our platforms– this will go a long way towards shaping the Team to better serve you.
Beyond the website, which is where we publish our core News, Reviews, and Features content across three languages, we’re also in the midst of growing our Social Media platforms further. Our Facebook page aside, we’re also active on Instagram and TikTok as well. If you haven’t ‘followed’ or subscribe to any of which, please do so. Your thoughts and feedback here will be greatly appreciated as well.
On the content front, we’ve got plenty of car reviews for you to look forward to this month. I won’t digress much on this, but there are exciting highlights like the new Ford Ranger XLT Plus, the Honda HR-V e:HEV RS, as well as the Mercedes-Benz EQA 250 AMG Line, amongst many other things. We’ll have all these, and more, coming up through our Reviews section very soon.
Apart from that, our team will also continue to deliver all the key and relevant news from the automotive front. 2023 is shaping to be quite an exciting year indeed, especially on the electrified front. Kicking things off this month are the folks over at BMW Group Malaysia as the firm is hosting a major launch sometime next week, so look out for our coverage of which then.
Rivals Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, on the other hand, looks set to electrify its local assembly (CKD) effort with the inclusion of several all-electric EQ models very soon. I’ve also been informed by well-placed sources that both Volkswagen Audi – now under the guardianship of PHS Automotive Malaysia – are set to introduce a few of their respective iD and e-tron models locally this year too.
Premium German brands aside, national automaker Proton will enter the affordable Electric Vehicles (EVs) market space this year too, starting with their efforts at distributing the Smart brand. When we last spoke with Proton’s Deputy CEO En. Roslan Abdullah, he’s indicated that their efforts with Smart are set to take off as early as May this year, so look out for that as well.
Indeed, there is much more in store for us Malaysians on this front as we progress through 2023. Rest assured, all of us here at the CariCarz.com Editorial Team will be at the forefront of delivering all the key news and information surrounding them.
Lastly, with the festive Chinese New Year holidays looming, I’d like to take the opportunity to wish all of you celebrating a prosperous Year of The Rabbit in advance. Please be safe on the roads with your loved ones if you’re making your annual Balik Kampung travels this time around.
Until our next Editor’s Note, I hope all of you enjoy what we’ve got planned for this month.
Sincerely,
Thoriq Azmi
