The Road Transport Department (JPJ) is shifting the operation hours of its counters situated at Urban Transformation Centres (UTC) across the country. The department adds that this adjustment will be trialled from Jan 1 to June 30 this year.

Since June 2022, UTC-based JPJ counters within Peninsular Malaysia operated from 8AM to 9PM on weekdays, whereas those in East Malaysia operated from 8AM to 7PM instead. Weekend operation hours, on the other hand, ran from 8AM to 5PM.

The latest revision sees operating hours now shortened on certain weekdays from 8AM to 5PM. This now applied to UTC-based JPJ counters in Johor Bahru, Pasir Gudang, Sungai Petani and Kota Bharu where the shortened hours are applied from Monday to Wednesday. Regular operations from 8AM to 9PM remain from Thursday to Sunday instead.

As for UTC-based JPJ offices in Sentul, Seremban, Ipoh, and Kuantan, these will also see similar shortened operating hours from Tuesday to  Thursday. Notably, the JPJ counter at UTC Kangar will operate on the same shortened hours from Tuesday to Friday instead.

Lastly, across the pond, UTC-bound JPJ offices in Borneo such as Tawau, Keningau, Sibu and Miri will have shortened operating hours from Tuesday to Friday as well.

If you are planning to do any JPJ transactions at any of these UTCs, do keep these revised operating hours on select weekdays in mind.
