Finance (MOF) has announced the retail prices of all fuels in Malaysia for the
coming week of February 9 to 15, 2023 would remain unchanged.Premium RON 97
sees no changes at RM3.35 per litre, as does regular RON 95 when it continues
to retail at its ceiling price of RM2.05 per litre which set by the government
back in February 2021. On to the
diesel blends, all three also see no changes for the second week of February
2023. As for Euro5 B10 and B20 blends, it remains at RM 2.15 per litre, whilst
Euro 5 B7 resumes with the same RM2.35 per litre figure as it did for the past two week.







As usual, these
prices take effect from midnight tonight until the next price announcement from
the Ministry next Wednesday – Feb 15, 2023.

Compared to Nov last year, total sales were up 5.5% from 68,749 units. Passenger vehicles did well, rising 5.8% to 67,308 units, while commercial vehicles saw a small increase of 1% to 5,201 units.From Jan to Nov, total vehicle sales reached 727,836 units, just below last year’s 736,317 units. Passenger vehicle sales held steady at 673,751 units, while commercial vehicles fell 11% to 54,085 units.Production in Nov also saw a slight increase, with 62,829 units made, up 2% from last year. So far this year, production is at 680,173 units, down 6% from 2024.

E-hailing drivers who don’t clock at least 2,000km a month will no longer qualify for extra fuel quota under <a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.carz.com.my/2025/10/budi95-300-litre-quota-sufficient-for-most-malaysians" target="_blank" style="">the BUDI MADANI RON95 (BUDI95) programme</a> in the following month.
Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said eligibility will now be based strictly on actual <a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.carz.com.my/2025/10/extra-budi95-fuel-quota-for-full-time-e-hailing-drivers-amir-hamzah" target="_blank" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; white-space-collapse: preserve;">trip data recorded in e-hailing operator (EHO) systems. </a>Under the current structure, drivers who travel below 2,000km will continue to receive the basic 300 litres per month. Those covering between 2,000km and 5,000km will qualify for an additional 300 litres, bringing their total to 600 litres.

Amir Hamzah said the approach is meant <a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.carz.com.my/2025/12/no-cash-rebates-for-evs-under-budi95" target="_blank" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt; white-space-collapse: preserve;">to close loopholes and ensure subsidies go only to drivers who genuinely depend on e-hailing as their main source of income. </a>"Enforcement action could be taken against drivers or EHOs found submitting false, suspicious or inconsistent travel recordsThe government will continue to monitor usage patterns and fine-tune the system if needed to keep BUDI95 effective, targeted and sustainable over the long term," he noted.As of Dec, more than 106,000 out of 164,000 registered e-hailing drivers or about 65% are already eligible for at least 600 to 800 litres under the programme.

Monthly travel distances are calculated by consolidating data from all EHOs, with verification handled by APAD and LPKP in Sabah and Sarawak.Only drivers holding a valid PSV licence and e-hailing permit are considered. EHOs are also required to submit accurate and complete monthly travel data at the start of each month to prevent subsidy leakage to inactive or illegal drivers.

E-hailing drivers must now clock at least 2,000km a month to qualify for higher BUDI95 petrol quotas.

Cable theft along rail lines has become a growing headache for <a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.carz.com.my/2025/12/prasarana-set-to-roll-out-1045-electric-buses-by-2030" target="_blank" style="">Prasarana Malaysia Berhad</a>, with the company warning that the problem can no longer be tackled by operators alone. 
Over the past three years, <a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.carz.com.my/2025/11/over-1300-hours-of-train-delays-this-year-due-to-cable-theft-loke" target="_blank">cable theft has cost Prasarana an estimated RM20.6 million, while incidents have surged sharply this year, directly affecting train services used by millions in the Klang Valley.</a>According to the rail operator, 69 cable theft cases have already been recorded so far this year, up from 41 cases in 2024, marking a 68% increase. The rise is largely driven by organised syndicates taking advantage of high copper prices, making stolen cables highly profitable on the scrap market.

While the financial losses are significant, Prasarana stressed that passengers bear the biggest impact. Each theft damages critical signalling systems, forcing immediate repairs and often resulting in train delays, service disruptions and safety concerns. “Every theft incident disrupts operations, and passengers are the ones who suffer,” said <a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.carz.com.my/2025/06/rm300k-lost-to-cable-thefts-at-terengganu-ecrl-sites" target="_blank">Prasarana group chief for health, safety, security, environment and sustainability, Idzqandar Abu Bakar.</a>To curb the problem, Prasarana has stepped up security across its 200km-plus rail network, deploying security personnel, conducting joint patrols with the police, installing high-tech CCTV systems and even testing the use of sniffer dogs on certain lines.

It is also working with MRT Corp to strengthen physical security at vulnerable locations."However, these measures are still not enough given the scale of the network and the organised nature of the crime," he stated, calling for a coordinated national approach, including stricter regulation of the scrap metal industry and heavier penalties for offenders.Prasarana also warned that cable theft does not only affect its rail operations, but poses risks to other rail operators and telecommunications infrastructure, making it a broader threat to the country’s critical systems.

Motorists can look forward to cheaper highway travel this Christmas, with<a rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" href="https://www.carz.com.my/2025/12/no-toll-hikes-in-2026-as-govt-commits-to-absorb-costs" target="_blank" style=""> the government announcing a 50% toll discount for private vehicles nationwide on Dec 23 and 24.</a>
The Works Ministry said the discount is meant to ease the cost of travelling during the festive period, especially for those heading back to their hometowns or visiting family and friends. "The toll cut applies only to Class 1 vehicles, which include privately owned passenger cars.
