Electric vehicles users using the PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) Expressway will soon be able to enjoy seamless charging when all 18 TNB Electron charging facilities are made available to them by the end of this year. This is made possible via a collaborative effort between Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and PLUS with the support of the Malaysian Expressway Authority (LLM).

As of now TNB Electron charging facilities are available at 3 R&Rs, namely Ayer Keroh (heading north - 2x90kw), Tapah (heading north - 2x90kw) on the North-South Expressway and Paka (heading north - 2x90kw) on East Coast Expressway 2 (LPT2).

However, 6 more TNB Electron stations are in development to be launched this year located at R&R Machap (heading south), Rawang (heading north), Gunung Semanggol (heading south), Gurun (both heading north and south) and Paka (heading south).

According to the President and Chief Executive Officer of TNB, Dato' Indera Ir. Baharin Din, "The use of electricity at 9 TNB Electron stations is estimated to be 99,000 kWh throughout the year 2023. This would directly reduce carbon emission by 7.2 metric tons which is equivalent to trapping greenhouse gases by 8.5 acres of forest per year.”

PLUS Board Member and UEM Group Managing Director, Dato' Mohd Izani Ghani further added that as of Jan 2023, as many as 20 fast charging facilities have been operating along the PLUS Highway. PLUS is also ready to add more of these facilities at other R&Rs.

According to Dato' Mohd Izani, "We are also confident that this TNB Electron Charger will be able to provide more options to electric vehicle owners on PLUS Highway with more cost effectiveness”.

The TNB Electron stations would be accessible to users via the GO TO-U App
