Kia is poised to reveal the production version of its new EV9 electric SUV this month on March 15. In light of this, the Korean automaker has released a new teaser for the model online, which shows off its blend of retro and forward-looking design features.

The EV9 will stand as Kia’s flagship across two fronts, the first being a showcase of the brand’s commitment towards all-electric vehicles, as well as standing as its largest SUV offering to date.

Through this latest teaser, Kia gives a clear look at the forward lighting module of the EV9. Like the original concept, it features L-shaped and mostly vertical daytime running lights plus various smaller LED lights that point toward the middle of the grille. The teaser also briefly shows the possibility of this module having more than one setting.

A glimpse of the taillight module is also seen and, like the front, it comprises of mostly vertical lighting with a small horizontal bar running across the tailgate. Other key bits seen include Range Rover-style flush door handles, plus hard boxy lines in the rear quarter panel. A full view of the side profile is seen too, which confirms its three-row seating space.

Other changes to note include the deletion of bonnet vents, followed by a re-profiled rear roof section. What’s not shown are the wheels, likely indicating the initial concept’s striking three-spoke design might not make it into this production version.

Beyond this, there’s little else to garner, though we won’t have long to wait until its official debut on March 15. Additionally, reputable sources report that the model will see both a 200 HP (149 kW) and 400 HP (298 kW) variants up on offer when launched. Expect more details following the model’s impending debut later this month.
