PIAM Agrees Digitalization Of Road Tax And Driving Licence Draws Positive Impact

The General Insurance Association of Malaysia (PIAM) supports the digitalization of road tax and driver's licence documents in Malaysia. 

This statement comes after the Transport Minister, Anthony Loke Siew Fook, announced earlier on February 10 that it will no longer be mandatory to display a road tax sticker on the windscreen of one's vehicle. 

According to the local news, it further claims that said action proves to result in positive and beneficial impact, especially towards the public as well as the natural ecosystem. This initiative may also result in better enforcement by competent agencies like the Road Transport Department and the Royal Malaysian Police.

Therefore, the move also helps in terms of money-saving as it eliminates the need for the physical document to be delivered, negating the need for delivery fees. More effectively, driver's licences can now be accessed digitally, giving drivers the freedom to travel without carrying a physical copy with them.

Following that, it has been made easier by the option to switch to digital documents for driver's licences and road tax via the JPJ public portal or the MyJPJ mobile app. Thus, users may check the status of their driver's licence, road tax, driving test results, JPJ fines, and blacklisted vehicles through the apps.
