2024 Shelby Mustang Mach-E GT Debuts As First-Ever All-Electric Shelby

After more than a decade since his passing, Carroll Shelby’s name is still respected in the automotive world, often hailed as one of the most influential automotive innovators the world has ever seen. To celebrate Mr. Shelby's 100th birthday this year, Shelby American launches its first-ever all-electric model, dubbed as the Shelby Mustang Mach-E GT.
Interestingly, this souped-up EV will be available exclusively for the European market. And frankly, the Americans only got themselves to blame, because Shelby’s decision to not sell its EV on home soil is due to the nation’s slow adoption of EVs, which translates to lower demands for such cars.

Moving on to the vehicle itself, the Shelby Mustang Mach-E GT is more than just a rebadge, as it features a slew lightweight parts and equipment. Based on the standard Ford Mustang Mach-E GT, Shelby swaps both the standard hood and front grille for carbon fibre ones. Elsewhere, the Shelby Mach-E also comes with carbon fibre front splitter, side cladding, as well as mirror caps.

Another notable exterior styling cues is the Shelby’s signature racing stripe, which runs across the car’s side profile instead from the hood to the back of the roof, like in many older Shelby Mustang models. What’s so special about this decal is that its hue matches the original Shelby Le Mans-winning model – a special homage to the brand’s historical successes in motorsports.

Of course, this special model rides on a special set of lightweight wheels, featuring multi-spoke design, finished in satin black hue.
On board, the Shelby Mach-E is laden with a slew of Shelby exclusive equipment. This includes the many Shelby emblems and badges, special numbered dash plaque that denotes the exact model number of the car, as well as Shelby-badged floor mats.
Interestingly, this model sports a novel Borla Active Performance Sound System, which produces a fake engine noise that mirrors the car’s actual driving speed and RPM level, giving an illusion that you’re driving an ICE-powered Shelby Mustang instead of an all-electric one.

The Shelby Mustang Mach-E GT is now available for sale as a performance package in the European market, which fetches a price tag of €24,900 (RM), excluding the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT base car price.
To commemorate Carroll Shelby’s 100th birthday, only 100 units of the Shelby Mustang Mach-E GT will be available, with its production set to commence in July this year, while deliveries are expected to begin much later this year.
